In his essay, Lukas Kiemele (@narabophilo) writes Luke describes the “ideal human being” in the historical development of Europe.  and how they can only exist through the discrimatory separation and difference from someone “other”.

I had the photographs in mind with a static background that is crystal clear and the simultaneous blurring of all moving objects. To illustrate the absurdity of our world, I reversed this effect. So the “others” mentioned in the essay, who are not moving at all, are distorted and almost dissolve, while at the same time the fast-moving cars are clearly recognizable as if they were standing still.
The almost artificial-looking row of palm trees shows a highly polished and, in a way, hypocritical character of an ideal world. Just like the cars, the windowless buildings are a sign of capitalism and lend the scenario a soulless quality.
