Even today, I encounter the question:
‘Why is it problematic when white people wear braids, twists, cornrows, or locs?’ far too often.
The only good thing about this question is that it’s an immediate indicator for me. It shows that the person asking has likely never been interested in, or had any real contact with, the realities of racism.
