Nolema Headwraps / Black History Month

In honor of Black History Month, I portrayed these four heroines after which the NOLEMA Headwraps were named.

Mme C.J. Walker born Sarah Breedlove

The Sarah Headwrap is named after Sarah Breedlove, better known as Mme C.J. Walker, who was a badass businesswoman and the first female self-made millionaire in the U.S. She was the one who built the first cosmetics and hair care brand for Black women.

"Don´t sit down and wait for the opportunities to come. Get up and make them."

Mae Jemison

The Mae Headwrap was named after Mae Jemison, an incredible and very inspiring person who was the first African American woman in space.

"Never limit yourself because of others´ limited imagination. Never limit others because of your own limited imagination."

Josephine Baker

The Josephine Headwrap is named after this stunning lady - Josephine Baker, who must have been an amazing human being if you ask me. A queer, dancing superstar who fought against racism and had a second life as a spy in World War II. How cool is that?!

"To realize our dreams we must decide to wake up."

Billie Holiday

the Billie Headwrap was named after Billie Holiday, who not only was one of the most important jazz icons ever but also a proud and strong woman who always stayed true to herself.

"If I´m going to sing like someone else, then I don´t need to sing at all."
